Ray Sherman out in Dallas

Well, Ray Sherman’s head-coaching interview with the Dallas Cowboys must have gone badly.

Really, really badly.

The team’s receivers coach since 2007, Sherman wasn’t hired to be the team’s next head coach. He also won’t be promoted to the job of offensive coordinator, a position that became vacant after Jason Garrett was promoted from interim head coach to head coach.

In fact, Sherman reportedly won’t even remain employed by the team. According to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com, Sherman’s contract has expired and won’t be renewed.

The move will fuel suspicions that the interview of Sherman for head coach was a Rooney Rule sham. And if the Cowboys truly viewed Sherman as a legitimate candidate to be the next head coach of the team, something must have gone horribly wrong in his interview to persuade the Cowboys that he was unfit for further employment on the team.
